Yesterday was Jake's 3 year check-up. He's doing great! We do have a little problem with his feet... He walks on the inside of his foot because he was blessed with my flat feet. So we have to go and get arch supports for his shoes, which we knew about this since he was 8 months and starting to walk. Otherwise he's a normal healthy boy!
He weighs 36 pounds which puts him in the 75th percentile for the first time ever! in the past he has been in the 25th percentile.
He is 40" tall, this also puts in in the 75th percentile, another first.
We got asked a lot of questions. We did really well on most, not so well on some.
Jake had just learned to hop on one foot, major milestone! He can recognize most of his letters, some of his numbers, and all of his shapes. He is able to write several of his letters and draw a few shapes (circle being his favorite of course). He is fully potty trained, though we have a small issue with constipation, again no surprise there. He can catch a ball, speak in more then 4 word sentences, he can brush his own teeth, and so on.
Things we didn't do so hot on were actually my fault... I'm not supposed to be giving him hard candy, popcorn, or more then 4 ounces of juice a day. I didn't really know that, I guess I should have. Also he should be able to butter his bread with a knife. Now about this, I let him have a knife for the first time recently to spread frosting on Christmas cookies and not again since then. I now he could most likely butter his bread but I wasn't really sure about giving my just turned 3 year old a knife. Kenny doesn't really like him to have a fork. He doesn't sit very still and I worry he'll fall out of his chair with knife in hand. My friends with 3 years olds, do you routinely give your kids a knife at dinner? I guess I finally found an area I'm over protective...
