Easter 2007

Jake was really sick the weekend before Easter. He had 2 febrile seizures in 12 hours and his fever was really hard to control, in fact I couldn't control it. I almost had to put him in the hospital. One more seizure and he'd have gone in. His fever was 103.4 to 103.7 even with Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours. I know the drill. It scared the life out of me! On Sunday he seemed to feel a little better, his fever was really low, barely there. I took him to Sharon's house so I could go to work and he was able to go to church (where he is a hellion) and then participate in an Easter egg hunt. The church we go to is super kid friendly and on holidays there is no nursery (it's really small). The kids are allowed to run around during the service. I try not to allow Jake to do this anymore, I know that it is distracting. When he was little it was funny because I always knew he was wherever the bent over group of adults was. The pictures are from this day, that's why he looks a little sick.
The following weekend was Easter and he spent the day with his new babysitter, Kadeshia (de-de). They took Jake to church with them. They go to a predominantly black church and Jake stayed in the service instead of the nursery with them. Katrina, Kadeshia's mom, said to me "we black people you know when we sing we get into it. We sing loud and dance around and the get the drums going". She said that Jake stood up on the pew and was going crazy dancing with eyes as big as saucers! I wish I could have seen it. Jake also won the drawing for the huge Easter basket prize and found the prize egg while hunting that had money in it. All in all it was a good holiday for him.
Strawberries

These pictures were taken on two different days but since Jake is wearing the same clothes I thought I'd better put them together. I gave Jake Strawberries yesterday and he kept making the most sour face with every bite. He'd take them out of his mouth after partially chewing them and then put them back in and finish. He did this with every berry, disgusting! Anyway I think he likes them. He's just started really using his ustensils. He gets upset if I don't give him a spoon or fork with his meals. I've been catching some flack from certain people about giving him a fork, "he could poke out his eye!". My response... so can half the toys in his toy box if he tried hard enough. I'm trying to let him be independant and confident. He's a big boy now.
